Children, Youth & Young Families

We strive to include our youth in as many aspects of congregational life as possible.
As a church with 200 years of history, Gower has deep family roots. Many members of our congregation grew up at Gower, and have experienced and contributed to all the services we offer.
We believe is fostering a timeless connection from the earliest age, and we do this with children’s time every Sunday morning, an active nursery and Sunday School program, as well as our Children and Youth Choir.

Gower now has a Minister of Children, Youth and Young families.  See Meet the Staff for more information on all of Gower’s Ministerial personnel.

We Believe that Kids Come First

Sunday School meets during church, and welcomes children from Nursery age right up to confirmation. Sunday School includes music, prayer, learning about scripture, serving in the community, sharing with others and making friends. It also involves a lot of cupcakes!

Our Family Ministry reaches out to families who want to share meaningful and spiritual time together, especially as we approach major festivals of the church. We gather around a meal, a craft, and a biblical story to find a fuller appreciation of Christmas and Easter. At the close of our evening we worship together – a truly wonderful experience for all who attend!

Confirmation for young people in grade 8 or higher is offered every spring, with Rev. Marion. Young people and older people seeking to deepen their faith are partnered with mentors, using the resource Making Disciples, for 8-10 face-to-face sessions on matters of theology and social justice. The program is deeply meaningful to all who take part.
