St. James United Church Tapestry: This informal service, held on the second Sunday of each month, celebrates the strands that make us who we are in terms of faith, experience, and identity. Based on a theme, the service makes use of popular music as its “hymnbook”.  Participants explore the theme through facilitated conversation rather than a sermon and time is given for individual reflection at a series of "prayer stations". There is also now a potluck prior to the service. Potluck at 5:30 p.m. and service at 7:00 p.m.

New Youth Choir in St. John’s: "Hello! My name is Christina Acton, and I wanted to let you know about a new youth choir that will be launching in St. John's this Fall. A little background info about myself, I am currently a music teacher at Shine music studio and the Courtney Fowler Performance Academy, the Operations Manager for the Quintessential Vocal Ensemble, and a choral scholar and administrator for the Cowan Heights United Church.

The choir would be run by myself, as well as my colleagues Keira Davis and fellow Cowan Heights choral scholar Nick Leblanc, both of whom are fantastic music teachers, choristers, and musicians. Our goal with this choir is to provide youth with an environment to make music as a collective with a focus on expression, education, and accessibility. We aim to give singers at any level of experience an equal opportunity to learn and perform music in an ensemble which encourages personal growth and collaboration.

The fees for this choir will be $150 each semester. There will be 3 semesters, meaning fees for the entire year, from September to June, would be a total of $450.

If this choir is of any interest to you or someone you know, please fill out our questionnaire linked below, or send an email to christina.acton@qve.ca for more information. https://docs.googlecom/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd_sweI0w8q4_KSlgSE2OXCMJonIa0tFyw7KHls1zsVzutg9A/viewform?usp=sharing
