St. James United Church Rummage Sale:

Location: St. James United Church, 330 Elizabeth Avenue, St. John's
We are accepting donations of good used clothing, household items, small kitchen appliances, books, shoes, boots (in good condition), plants, etc. (No electronics please)
If you have items you would like to donate, these can be dropped off at the church office on any Friday morning between the hours of 10 am to 12 noon starting August 8th to the 23rd, or on Friday, August 28th from noon to 4 pm. Please come out and support the church, your contribution is greatly appreciated. Coastal Sounds Choir Association: Thinking about joining a choir in September, come and join Coastal Sounds Choir Association, We have 2 choirs of energetic, kind and welcoming choristers looking for new Friends. Coastal Sounds Community Choir- No Auditions, Everyone Welcome, Rehearsals on Wednesday Evenings in CBS.  Aurora Women's Choir-Auditioned, Sopranos and Altos, Rehearsals on Sunday Evening in CBS. FIRST UNITED CHURCH MOUNT PEARL
Thanksgiving Vegetable Hamper
First United Church, Mount Pearl will be selling Thanksgiving Vegetable Hampers 12-15lb for $20.00 - Hampers will include: potato, carrot, turnip and cabbage.
Orders will be delivered to the church Trinity Hall, the week of October 5 -8, 2026. You will be notified with pickup times as we get closer to the date. 
Hampers not picked up by Friday October 9, 2026 - 4pm will be donated.
Order form needs to be returned with money to the church by Friday September 18, 2026. 

The Twelve Steps: A Spiritual Journey is a program offered at The Lantern on Barnes Road. The original Twelve Steps were designed by Alcoholics Anonymous and have been adapted to meet the needs of people who struggle with other substances and personal challenges. Many of the steps are based on biblical concepts such as honesty, admitting wrongs and surrendering to the God of one’s belief.  There is no fee for attending. A program workbook can be purchased at the sessions. Some past participants have said this program helped them to deepen to their faith and renew their relationship with God and others. To register, please email 12ssj2026@gmail.com or text (709)685-1862.  Sessions are on Tuesdays at 7:30 t0 8:30 p.m. starting September 9th for twelve weeks. 

Cowan Heights United Church: Darrin Martin will be performing at the Cowan Heights United Church on Friday October 16th at 7pm; tickets go on sale in September so be sure to mark your calendars now! Darrin is a well-known performer and musician throughout Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. These days he can be seen (and heard!) performing with Spirit of Newfoundland Productions (since 2004), Our Divas Do Christmas, Sheila Williams Productions and at a variety of events throughout our beautiful province. Darrin is also a full-time visual artist (this poster features a piece by Darrin himself)! He and his wife, Georgina, operate the studio and gallery known as NorthSide Studios NL. Together they homeschool their three daughters, Grace, Faith and Hope. Add in a zoo of pets, and you have the formula for a very colourful life!
